Black female author wins the Matrix copyright infringement case [11 Nov 2009|06:40pm]

ohnotheydidnt

[theluckiest1089]

This little known story has met a just conclusion, as Sophia Stewart, African American author of The Matrix will finally receive her just due from the copyright infringement of her original work!!!
A six-year dispute has ended involving Sophia Stewart, the Wachowski Brothers, Joel Silver and Warner Brothers. Stewart’s allegations, involving copyright infringement and racketeering, were received and acknowledged by the Central District of California, Judge Margaret Morrow presiding.
Stewart, a New Yorker who has resided in Salt Lake City for the past five years, will recover damages from the films, The Matrix I, II and III, as well as The Terminator and its sequels. She will soon receive one of the biggest payoffs in the history of Hollywood, as the gross receipts of both films and their sequels total over 2.5 billion dollars.
Stewart filed her case in 1999, after viewing the Matrix, which she felt had been based on her manuscript, ‘The Third Eye,’ copyrighted in 1981. In the mid-eighties Stewart had submitted her manuscript to an ad placed by the Wachowski Brothers, requesting new sci-fi works..
According to court documentation, an FBI investigation discovered that more than thirty minutes had been edited from the original film, in an attempt to avoid penalties for copyright infringement. The investigation also stated that ‘credible witnesses employed at Warner Brothers came forward, claiming that the executives and lawyers had full knowledge that the work in question did not belong to the Wachowski Brothers.’ These witnesses claimed to have seen Stewart’s original work and that it had been ‘often used during preparation of the motion pictures.’ The defendants tried, on several occasions, to have Stewart’s case dismissed, without success.
Stewart has confronted skepticism on all sides, much of which comes from Matrix fans, who are strangely loyal to the Wachowski Brothers. One on-line forum, entitled Matrix Explained has an entire section devoted to Stewart. Some who have researched her history and writings are open to her story.

Others are suspicious and mocking. ‘It doesn’t bother me,’ said Stewart in a phone interview last week, ‘I always knew what was true.’
Some fans, are unaware of the case or they question its legitimacy, due to the fact that it has received little to no media coverage. Though the case was not made public until October of 2003, Stewart has her own explanation, as quoted at aghettotymz.com:

‘The reason you have not seen any of this in the media is because Warner Brothers parent company is AOL-Time Warner…. this GIANT owns 95 percent of the media… let me give you a clue as to what they own in the media business… New York Times papers/magazines, LA Times papers/magazines, People Magazine, CNN news, Extra, Celebrity Justice, Entertainment Tonight, HBO, New Line Cinema, DreamWorks, Newsweek, Village Roadshow and many, many more! They are not going to report on themselves. They have been suppressing my case for years.’
Fans who have taken Stewart’s allegations seriously, have found eerie mythological parallels, which seem significant in a case that revolves around the highly metaphorical and symbolic Matrix series. Sophia, the Greek goddess of wisdom has been referenced many times in speculation about Stewart. In one book about the Goddess Sophia, it reads, ‘The black goddess is the mistress of web creation spun in her divine matrix.’
Although there have been outside implications as to racial injustice (Stewart is African American), she does not feel that this is the case. ‘This is all about the Benjamins,’ said Stewart. ‘It’s not about money with me. It’s about justice.’

Stewart’s future plans involve a record label, entitled Popsilk Records, and a motion picture production company, All Eyez On Me, in reference to God. ‘I wrote The Third Eye to wake people up, to remind them why God put them here. There’s more to life than money,’ said Stewart. ‘My whole to the world is about God and good and about choice, about spirituality over ‘technocracy’.’
If Stewart represents spirituality, then she truly has prevailed over the ‘technocracy’ represented in both the Terminator and the Matrix, and now, ironically, by their supposed creators.
Stewart is currently having discussions with CBS about a possible exclusive story and has several media engagements in the near future to nationally publicize her victory. June 13th 2004. Sophia Stewart’s press release read: ‘The Matrix & Terminator movie franchises have made world history and have ultimately changed the way people view movies and how Hollywood does business, yet the real truth about the creator and creation of these films continue to elude the masses because the hidden secret of the matter is that these films were created and written by a Black woman…a Black woman named Sophia Stewart. But Hollywood does not want you to know this fact simply because it would change history. Also it would encourage our Black children to realize a dream and that is…nothing is impossible for them to achieve!’

Nicholas Cage was once stalked by a mime

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We'll cut right to the chase: Nicolas Cage was once stalked by a mime. Yes, that kind of mime. And yeah, that sounded about right to us, too.

While other terrorized celebrities follow the tried-and-true formula of being menaced by the more traditional knife- and duct tape-wielding crazies, leave it to Cage to break from the mainstream, even when it comes to unwanted pursuers.

"I guess it would fall into the stalker category more or less," the financially ruined actor told Parade of his nearly 10-year-old encounter.

"I was being stalked by a mime—silent, but maybe deadly. Somehow, this mime would appear on the set of Bringing Out the Dead and start doing strange things."

Stranger, presumably, than walking headfirst into invisible gale-force winds, unpeeling transparent bananas or attempting to make his way out of an imaginary box.

"I have no idea how it got past security. Finally, the producers took some action and I haven't seen the mime since. But it was definitely unsettling."

It's probably safe to assume the mime would have no comment on the incident. Or, you know, any incident.

Jonas Brothers at the Bernebau [11 Nov 2009|06:41pm]

ohnotheydidnt

[shirelings]

The Santiago Bernabeu Stadium was visited by the Jonas Brothers. Nick, Kevin and Joseph took the Stadium Tour and played a small game on the pitch with legendary player and current Director of Institutional Relations Emilio Butragueño. Following a penalty shoot-out, with Nick acting as goalkeeper, the Jonas Brothers saw the first team's dressing room.

The three New Jersey brothers were impressed by the incredible amount of trophies won by the Club and loved many of the antique kits and items on display in the museum. Each received a personalised Real Madrid shirt from Emilio Butragueño, whom they greatly admire.

During the penalty shoot-out, Emilio Butragueño warped to the past and scored an impressive strike through one of the top corners of the goal. Kevin tried too, but his shot was too high. Disney Channel host Andrea Guasch also had a try. "We used to play football when we were small," said Joseph. "We love Real Madrid, but we don't have time to watch their games," added Nick.

Once in the dressing room, the brothers had their picture taken next to Cristiano Ronaldo's locker as they "greatly admire him." The Jonas Borthers' visit was a prelude to the concert they will give tonight at the Palacio de los Deportes in the Spanish capital. They will play several songs of their latest album Lines, Vines and Trying Times. "Spanish fans give us a lot of energy," said Joseph.

best song on "rated r" written by justin timberlake [11 Nov 2009|05:41pm]

ohnotheydidnt

[thrillisgone_89]

Okay, fine. It's one of the great songs on the new Rihanna album, Rated R. I went and heard it at her record label yesterday. Two key points that stick out after just one front-to-back listen: First of all, Rihanna attacked this new album aggressively. She says "motherfucker," "bitches" and the N-word on it (sorry, Oprah). It's got violent revenge fantasies. And sex fantasies. Often she seems to be singing directly to Chris Brown. And sonically, it can be brutally dark. If her mentor Jay-Z pops up on a remix of one of these tracks (let's hope it's "Rock Star"), he definitely won't be referring to her as "Little Miss Sunshine" again. And you're damn right this thing is getting a Parental Advisory sticker.

The second key to Rated R: The album reminds you in no uncertain terms that Ri-Ri isn't an R&B singer. She's a pop star, and pop stardom requires musical versatility. She does Kelly Clarkson pop-punk ("Firebomb"). She does hip-hop heavy R&B ("Hard" featuring Young Jeezy). She does a dancehall-referencing club anthem ("Rudeboy"). And she takes a page from Michael Jackson's "Dirty Diana" playbook and borrows heavily from hard rock ("Rock Star" featuring Slash). But our favorite track is the sweeping, grandiose, almost ludicrously over-stuffed and endless album closer "Cold Case Love," written with Justin Timberlake. A little bit Phil Collins, a little bit Lionel Richie, a lot bit Justin Timberlake's "Losin My Way," the song is epic, evocative, on-message (eat shit, Chris Brown) and just plain catchy. It's like, CALL JUSTIN AND TELL HIM TO BRING THE PLATINUM-PLATED KITCHEN SINK. Yes! That's exactly what you want from the most anticipated pop album on planet earth. Rated R comes out November 23rd.

also, the princess just previewed the video for "russian roulette" on german tv, it was EPIC omg. just waiting for someone to put it on youtube.

Pattinson 'embarrassed' by Fox dating rumours [11 Nov 2009|06:08pm]

ohnotheydidnt

[star_cuddles]
TWILIGHT hunk ROBERT PATTINSON was embarrassed by recent rumours of a romance with MEGAN FOX - because gossip magazines reported he had taken her on a "cheesy" date.
The stars fuelled speculation about a relationship when they posed for photos together at the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles in August (09).

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The Transformers beauty subsequently dismissed the reports, insisting she barely knows the Brit heart-throb.

And the story made Pattinson cringe - because of all the phony details.

He tells British magazine Heat, "I wouldn't be that cheesy if I was to go on a date with her. Because I read this magazine thing that said, 'He was rubbing her back, they were drinking Merlot... He was reading her poetry.' I was so embarrassed, like, 'Oh God!'"

But Pattinson admits his friends were very impressed by the rumours: "I kept getting all these texts from my mates in England saying, 'Whoa, are you going out with Megan Fox?' And I'd met her once, for like two seconds."
